Actually I think it's a great face and a pretty good ad hoc portrait. You've done well at 1/40th of a sec exposure - no really noticeable camera shake. You need more fill light to the left and the light side of the face is noticeably overexposed, losing a lot of interesting detail. As it is I think you could afford to let the left side of the face drift off to black if it meant bringing the right back under control. Try some sharpening and perhaps convert it to monochrome.
