Luke is the white-hooded bird at the lower right nearest the Brant. This location is a short way west of the Gurnet on Crescent Beach, a location where in prior years I had never seen him. This is the most south-facing location on the Duxbury Beach peninsula and may have been his point of initial touch down. After this sighting, he subsequently was seen only along the shore of the Bay between High Pines and the first crossover (his haunt in previous years).
At the time I took the photo I was so preoccupied with Luke and the excitement of his return that I failed to notice the lone Red Knot also on that rock - a noteworthy bird in its own right!
