This Pomarine Jaeger was found on the bayside beach between the Powder Point Bridge and the first crossover. It seemed to be exhausted and not injured as it could get up and move about (also it was gone the next day). It had been picked up by a passer by and moved out of the Beach Road onto the rocky beach earlier in the day (learned this later). The bird was not nervous and allowed me to get close enough to get some shots one normally doesn't get - studying a Jaeger on the ground!
This shot shows the distinctive thick two-colored bill and the dark cap stretching below the gape - both indicators of Pomarine not Parasitic. It also shows lots of dark markings on chest and sides that are consistent with the Pomarine. Other photos in a gallery at http://www.pbase.com/rickbowes/2011_pomarine
