Desert Willow

Canton Twp., Blaine Co., Oklahoma

A Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis) tree growing along the highway west of the town of Canton. Also called Desert Catalpa and Flowering Willow, the plant is a Catalpa rather than a Willow. The shrub was introduced into Oklahoma from the southwestern United States. They are usually found near abandoned homesteads and shelter belts.
