Yellow-billed Loon (Gavia adamsii)

This juvenile Yellow-billed Loon visited Pescadero Creek under Hwy 1 in San Mateo County, California in November of 2006. Since Yellow-billed Loons normally winter along the coast of Alaska or British Columbia this one was very far south of it's normal range. It stuck around for about 2 weeks and attracted birders and bird photographers from miles around.
