This Alligator Lizard startled my wife when she was pulling weeds in her herb garden. It had previously lost it's tail
and the new one was grown in almost completely. It stuck around long enough for me to get my camera and take
some shots with my macro lens. Having been born and raised in California, I've been aware of these lizards since
I was 6 or 7 years old, when I used to rearrange boards in an old wood pile to look for lizards. I find them to be very
nicely marked and the larger ones can do a good job of bitting the fingers of unwary kids who try to pick them up.
