Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones)
An estimated 5,000 corpses were exhumed to decorate the walls of the chapel
during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Inscription above the entrance, “We bones that are here, for yours we wait”.
Actually, solemn memorial for remembrance of those who precede us in death.
