Callanish Standing Stones

view map

The weather was dreadful
Ann could not open the car door against the wind to get out - so she didn't!
Alone amid the stones fighting the wind, this felt like a truly magical place
I was the only one stupid enough to be there
The stones are 10-15 feet tall

The Callanish Stones are an arrangement of standing stones
placed in a cruciform pattern with a central stone circle.
They were erected in the late Neolithic era, about 4000 BC
and were a focus for ritual activity during the Bronze Age.
Callanish, Isle of Lewis, Scotland
