Twin Cormorants

Judges Comments

There is wonderful detail and patterns captured in the wings, however the subjects are blending in with the background reducing overall impact. The background water
is just enough inside the circle of confusion to render details and that further blend in with the subject. Shooting with a longer lens and or wider aperture would allow
to control the depth of field and further blur the background. Panning the camera is also an excellent technique to improve on subject isolation. Reducing shutter
speed would allow to capture some movement in the wing-tips which adds to the sense of movement and reduce the feeling the birds are just hanging in mid air.
