A lot of thought appears to have gone into the positioning of the elements in this scene. The stumps in the background are well placed in the spaces of the foreground elements.
There is also a story in the harsh environment, the event that has killed all the trees and a contrast with the new life of the grass that is visible in the background.
The subjects fill the frame nicely, there are no background distractions and there is a feeling of a diagonal flow across the image that is enhanced by the hard shadows that point us across the page.
