Part of the challenge for astrophotography is finding an interesting subject to place in the foreground and balancing the foreground exposure with the faint light of the galactic
core. This has been well done in this image and the positioning of the Milky way commencing at the rocky outcrop works well. The image shows great detail and
texture in the rocks and gives us plenty to explore while the stars seem sharp and almost circular. To be extremely picky, the rocks have a cool
colour cast and I'm wondering if this could be warmed. The transition line into shadow on the right hand rocks is also very
harsh and perhaps a subtler gradient would be more pleasant as this is an open competition and not an astro competition.
