I think you're minimalist image here is actually the bottom right corner, just that stick and its shadow in the ripples of sand.
With the image as it is I find the stick too close to the bottom corner in relation to the rest of the frame.
Also, the bright blue of the sky adds another element of colour which is distracting from the minimalist idea.
