Depth of field is an issue with this image. I took the liberty to examine the EXIF data for the image.
This shows a Canon 6D camera, with a 97 mm lens, and an aperture of f 3.5. If the lens was focussed
at (say) 2 metres, then the depth of field would be around 90 mm. Assuming the camera was focussed
on the nose of the dog, then two thirds of the DOF would be behind this, resulting in only 2/3 of
90 mm (around 60 mm) to get the dog in focus. Also, I think the dog's eyes are oversaturated.
