I like the diagonal composition of this image. But at f2.8 you cannot get all the flower spike in ficus. It is sharp up to about the middle of the image, and then focus is lost. I feel it would be stronger if all the flower were in focus. Alos if you could have used a longer lens, say 100-400 you would still have a soft background. The background can also be taken out ot he question by the application of a filter. Take an image of some green shrubs in the shade, deliberately out of focus. You can also soften it further in photoshop if needed. The apply over the image. Usinf a layer mask you can selectively paint back in your subject. Have a look at Flowers by Kathleen Clemons.
