With a portrait the eyes need to be the main focus. The focus here is on the glasses. I do not feel the large selective focus helps this image. there is too much out of focus. But what really detracts from the image is the poor photoshop work Blurring and darkening backgrounds is good, but it needs to be done well and not be obvious. On both sides of the face we can see evidence of poor cloning or darkening. Jagged edges are a giveaway.
