This Frogmouth makes a good subject and is in a position where you could obtain a clear shot of it.
The highlights in the tree, while colourful cause a distraction from the main subject which is the bird itself.
If you were able to move closer or use a longer lens you could have fill the frame with the bird and eliminated the distractions.
You could have also used a bit of flash which would brighten the birds eyes and lit the front of it which is the shadow side.
