Hummgingbird Clearwings (Hemaris thysbe)

I've seen more of these hummingbird moths within the past week than I usually see in an entire year. Today I saw these two mating and three more singles nectaring on bugloss in the same area. It is so dry here from lack of rain that most of the vegetation is nothing more than dry straw. These bugloss plants, about a dozen in total, were the only plants in bloom and nectar sources in the area. These hummingbird moths and a couple of skippers (butterflies) were making the most of them.
