Slaty Skimmer (Libellula incesta)

I was teetering on a slippery log 10 feet out into the water with only cattails to gab onto for balance when I took this photo. It was the only way I could get the angle of light I wanted. At one point I barely maintained enough balance to keep me and my camera bag from falling in the water. That would have been the end of my camera career as there is no way I could afford to replace my camera or lenses. I will not be out on a log like that again!

A superb shot, however! I love the way the light brings out the colours on the body, and the veining in the wings. V
