Today I decided to stay in and catch up on some reading. Since it was a nice day, I set up my hammock out back near my feeders, brought along my reading material and camera, and took photos all day long in between chapters (and sometimes in between words!). A flock of Pine Siskins has been roaming my neighborhood for the past two days; they showed up the day after the last Common Redpoll left. Today there were about 14 of them on and off at my feeders all day and since they would regularly descend to my bird bath for a drink when they were around, I found a good way to photograph them was to position my bird bath in a strategic location and wait. The guy above looks like he is showing off the yellow in his wings (it was actually a chance capture at the end of a burst).

I was also able to get many photos of the White-throated Sparrows and some of the other birds. I'll post photos of them tomorrow.

Awesome capture on the underside of the wings. We rarely get to see that. Nice job on all of them.

A series of beautiful shots of these your backyard visitors Chris. I've had some at my feeders for the past few days too.

What a terrific set of photos, Chris!! Why leave home if you can photograph these beauties. You've captured every feathery detail. Excellent work.
