Canada Darner (Aeshna canadensis)

This was taken under natural lighting conditions along a forest edge. Normally to get this effect I'd have to use a ring flash, but photographing something along a forest edge produces the effect naturally as the camera is not able to simultaneously capture detail in the directly illuminated subject and heavily shaded forest background.
