This guy has been buzzing around the same spot for a few days now. Today was the first day I saw him perched and this is my first photo of this species. Nectaring in the cow vetch below the frame was a Least Skipper, another insect that has been in this same spot for a few days now. The only other large dragonfly I saw this morning was a female Common Whitetail and the only other butterflies I saw were one each of Cabbage White, Red Admiral, and Little Wood Satyr. It was a bit cool this morning and there was a steady brisk wind from the northwest that made conditions unfavorable for cold blooded life.
