Many of the gull chicks were only a day or two old. They stayed close to their parents and didn't venture far from their nesting area. Many were being brooded by their parents and some families had a mix of day old chicks and unhatched eggs. From what I observed gulls make good parents. They seem very attentive and gentile towards their young. But they can be very nasty towards young that are not their own.
