Anywhere where there is sap oozing from a tree these larger flies are sure to be found. I don't know what kind of flies these are but I think they might be blowflies. The problem with my keys to diptera is they are so full of technical terms that I usually give up! It would be nice if someone could make a manual for flies and other hard to identify insect groups that was written in plain english!!
