This little spruce is out of place in this area. Seeing this reminded me how effective seed dispersal can be. Who said trees were immobile! I don't even know where the nearest spruce tree is! There are a lots pines around (behind me) including one out of place Austrian Pine and lots of Eastern White-Cedar, but no spruces that I know of.

This photo also shows the kind of habitat I was in this afternoon when I took the three print photos shown above. The agricultural field mentioned above is in the background and before that is the access road. It was a glorious day to be out, the kind of day that reminds me of winter's virtues. Days like this when the sun is shining, temperatures are reasonable, and winds gentle make me feel like I can endure a few months of winter each year. Unlike yesterday, today I was sweating and at times my hands were so hot I had to take my gloves off for a while. I dare even say that I felt a bit of spring in the air too!
