Kampung Ayer called by Ferdinand Magellan as the Venice of the Far East, is a water village where schools, businesses and residential properties are all built above the water on stilts. In land, most houses are also built on stilt and we found out that it is actually a way to get cooler in the hot and humid tropical weather.
