I Leave Home (June 17 p.m.)
"Hey Maw. I'm really lonely. If I flap my wings can I get out, too?" (10:16 a.m.) |
"Maybe I can sneak out the back like Sue." (11:15 am) |
"Gosh Mom. I'm really glad to see you while I'm trying to figure out how to leave." |
"It's now two hours later so I'm going to try to fly out." |
"Dang it. Flying didn't work either. What are my wings for?" |
"I'll try to fly one more time...Hmmm, don't seem to be moving!" |
"It's 5 p.m. and I've been sitting here all day and can't seem to get out." |
"It's now 6:30 p.m. Now or never." |
"7:30 p.m. Look how far I got -- but got to hunker down; that guy with the camera is on the loose again." |
"The situation is that Dad just fed me, then flew off. So I'm going to jump off this branch and fly after him." |
"Whoops. I jumped, furiously flapped my wings ... and slowly sank to the ground. What a bummer. And now that guy with the camera is following me. It's panic time." |
"Was I lucky. Can you see me in the grass? What happened is that Dad saw me jump off the limb. Then he ran and grabbed a big worm for me, and told me to follow him as he walked across the yard to the garden and bushes." |
"OK guys. It's June 17th at 7:42 p.m. and this is the last you'll see me for awhile. Au revoir, auf wiedersehen, adieu, sayonara, toodle doo, bon voyage, thanks for the memories, and good by." |
