World of her own

Monday 27th June - Day 191

This is a significant departure for me. I've tended to shy away from people shots, I suppose it is because I find people daunting, even though I am one! If I find people daunting, I can find children terrifying! As photo subjects that is...

However, I was actually on recce this evening for another shoot later this week, when I noticed this leat, or small, man-made watercourse, and out of nowhere, this girl playing next to it. I only had the 18-70 lens with me, but I think it has actually worked well.

No PS other than cropping and framing

I looked at the photo first without peeking at comments and my first thought was, like Jude's - it's a Secret Garden shot. Beautifully done; very fantasy, dreamy feel to it. Take more people photos, Lee. You'll get over the intimidation factor and you really have an eye for it.

Beautiful image!
This reminds me so much of 'Secret Garden' ... or 'Alice in the Looking Glass'
This lighting is stunning!

Excellent shot, Lee! The little girl really makes the photo even more special. Looks like a wonderful place.

Excellent shot! Her quiet presence ads perspective! All the textures are wonderful...and look...there's her reflection too...adds strength to the presence of the water. Very nice!

The inclusion of the little girl certainly adds to this, already, interesting image. Good that she is wearing a bright top too.

Yes! This is a departure for you and a very good one,Lee!
I really like the scenery (as always) but including a little girl is just perfect.
That reflection is awesome too!
Pbase has been awfully slow...I gave up yesterday...but I'm back.

Beautiful moment caught unaware! Lovely shot with a nice painterly quality to it!
Guest 27-Jun-2005 23:05
This is beautiful ... more so because she is unaware of you there and relaxed. Nice catch ... :)
Guest 27-Jun-2005 22:56

Well this was a *great* departure! This really feels like a painting, about an idyllic childhood or something, it's very dreamy and the reflection is perfect. Great shot!
