Iris

Monday 7th February 2005 - Day 51

I stayed up until 3.30 am last night, watching the end of the Superbowl, I'm not surprised that the Patriots won, as they gradually turned the screw during the game, and although the scoreline was close closer than it should have been, I don't think the result was in doubt for most of the last quarter. Thats my tuppeny-worth anyway :)

Today I'm regretting it a bit though, glad I took the day off. My stomach is a little bit delicate, which may be related to junk food and beer on top of a really nice Game stew last night. It will settle down, eventually.... Too much information.

There are a bunch of these Irises in the kitchen, and I was of course struck by the colour combination within them. Taking advantage of a bright sunny day, I shot outside, then proceeded to use a black backgroung and diffuse the sun with my reflector! Flowers are not easy subjects and I respect the skill of some of you in producing such brilliant photos.

Absolutely stunning shot, Lee. There is a modern-art abstract quality to it and at the same time, the center is so sharp and crisp I want to reach out and touch it - and would expect to feel the velvet softness of the iris petals. Beautiful, beautiful shot.

Gorgeous macro,Lee!! I have to take more flower photos! Hope your stomach is feeling better. I don't know much about football...and I don't understand how people love it (men especially) so much!

Hi Rudd - excellent focus and exposure getting the perfect color contrasts between the yellow and violet. Good dramatic composition as well. Best Regards, Michael.

Beautiful shot of the iris. Your bulbs should be starting to bloom. Do you have tulips?
