Reaching upwards

Monday 24th January 2005 - Day 37

I pass this building each day on the way into work, and was intrigued how it caught the light. Of course, it is way better at dawn, but walking around at lunchtime today I saw this view above the building. This is another in the "point the camera up with a wide angle" views that I seem to have a collection of.

Today is meant to be the most depressing day of the entire year, yet with the sun out it hasn't been that bad. Yet. I'm smiling anyway.

PS - Channel mixer to mono; duotone.

You know, I heard on the news that today was supposedly the most depressing day of the year as well. Bad weather, Christmas bills due..etc. Funny though ~ we had a lovely day where I live, too :) Like the perspective ot this. Also think it works really well in B&W!

I like the title you choose, especially if this was supposed to be a depressing day. Reaching upwards, would in my definition mean to lighten the spirit. You have accomplished that nicely in this image. The building stands out in this picture and I love the clean lines. Wonderful choice of black and white, a softer type of black and white.

Interesting view, looking up the building.

Did you read that in today's Guardian? : ) Great shot. The angle and the lighting on the outside of the pillar are crucial to the effect.

Wonderful array of things in this photo, Lee.. the sky.. beautiful and swirly - natural. The buidling with its curved side reaching up towards the clouds.. the points and angles of the rooftop. Very well done in b&w.
Did I miss the memo on the bad day today?
