Actually, this was simply the ground floor kitchen where dirty dishes were brought for cleaning after meal time. See Darleen's comment below.

The scullery was located in central kitchen which was part of the staff and trainees dining room building. This picture shows the dish washer in the 1st floor kitchen in the Greaves Building. Meals were sent over in hot wagons and dispensed to the 3 floors of Greaves and the dirty dishes returned to this ground floor kitchen.
