Nordic Spirit

Victoria, BC view map

This image was made at Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria from five bracketed frames.
The sky was much brighter than the boats and water and so I bracketed the shot and combined them on
the computer. I did this in order to end up with what I hope would be an image that closely
resembles what I saw with my own eyes. Some would call this a high dynamic range (HDR) image but we
have accomplished similar results using neutral density graduated filters.
I hope it isn't too over worked.

Canon EOS-1D Mark III ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM ,Digital
Handheld, ISO 400, 17mm, Exposures were -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 EV full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Great composition with exceptional light capture, color and clarity. This, in my opinion, is a perfect place to employ photo realistic HDR techniques and it is not over worked at all. This level of tone control would never have been possible with a ND for this type of image with so many things sticking up in the sky. A very wall worthy image. ~BV~

The sitting sun boucing off the back of the white boat and the building on the right. Plus, just enough of a wake from a passing boat. The clouds in the sky. And, the "Noridc Spirit". This is awesome shot. Great capture. BV+. Gary

It's a busy harbour but this captures a serene dawn? moment. Did you get down to where the houseboats are moored? Voted

Very nice shot, cool blue in the right and warm sky in the left. Had not the feeling that this was processed, it look very natural and like you have probably seen it and in memory. It was your long comment that captured my attention...
So excellent...V
