DAMSELFLIES (Zygoptera)

The Damselfly (Suborder Zygoptera) is an insect in the Order Odonata. Damselflies are similar to dragonflies, but the adults
can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most damselflies are held along, and parallel to, the body when at rest.
Furthermore, the hindwing of the damselfly is essentially similar to the forewing, while the hindwing of the dragonfly
broadens near the base, caudal to the connecting point at the body. Damselflies are also usually smaller,
weaker fliers than dragonflies, and their eyes are separated.

Wow, Bob this is great work! I passed along your site to many of my friends, family and fellow environmentalists....keep this up, I love it. Patty and I looked at Caterpillars and were struck, so now have your gallery site as one of our favorites....someday I would love to retire and do what you do....I beleive I would do more sketching combined with photography, I am an architect by profession. hmmm, well I'm glad to see you aren't too busy to take photos, which I thought maybe was the case with your going on 'no-mail'. Nice shots of a great variety of species.
