I do quite a bit of string player photography myself, and frankly, most of my shots are failures and repetitions of failures :-(
This gallery (apart from being "great" :-) ) gave me lots of really helpful new ideas and inspiration.
A suggestion: What about trying longer shutter times? In the close-ups, I would like to see that a string is really played, just to "prove" that it's not just a pose. I just visited a photo exhibition yesterday where I found a "flute player" who had not the faintest idea of how to hold the flute :-(
