Viewing Snowy Owls in Ashland in the last few weeks has been mostly like this. Typically, 3 or 4 as distant as these can be found daily. They rest out there all day and then come into shore at night to hunt, only to return to the ice the next day. In the foreground, you can see open water and at the top of the photo is the Bayfield Peninsula (with some open water just in front of it).
