Gyrfalcon (adult gray morph)

Ashland oredock, 16 Dec 2005
Probably the same adult gray that overwintered in Ashland last year. Based on size, shape, and some plumage features, likely a male. Note the blood stains on the lower belly above the feet, presumably from a recent feeding.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Nice clear shot, Ryan. I spent last week at my cabin near Winchester, and drove up to Ashland a few times to try and see the Gyrfalcon, but without success. I briefly saw Waynes Merlin as it flew away. Nice to hear Mr. Potters Varied Thrush is still around. I visited him last winter after speaking to you on the phone. I will continue to follow your posts on the bird forum, and will keep looking for the Gyrfalcon as I can. Nice to have an excuse for visiting Ashland. Good gyros at the place with the red bus.
