Mountain Mists

How would you explain this view. Who would believe that the mountain ridges stretched all the way to the horizon? Now imagine them covered in snow...

Taken after a long night over Afghanistan. This early morning shot is actually over Tajikistan. China is in the distance. Uzbekistan is off our left shoulders.

It's been over 8 years since I first commented on your great image - glad you are still kicking, and I still love this image.

Thought you might like to know that I recently used this photograph/sight to show my 6th grade students what the mountains in the Hindu Kush look like. we have been studying this part of the world in history class. Thank you for providing photos that can be used to increase my students understanding of this world

This one is absolutely breathtaking and being a writer, words are failing me. I take photos too, mainly scenic, wildlife and at one time weddings. YUCK!! Your caption is true, the earlier you are out in the morning, the more beautiful the photo opportunities. (I have often done this)
Just keep on going and send more. We are all getting greedy to see them.
Stay safe, you and the other heroes you work with.

As a amateur photographer, I have a name for photos like this. This one is a God picture. The ability to capture a moment when everything is perfect, from lighting to centered action is indeed a miracle. May the good Lord keep you safe and continue to bless you with unique opportunity to capture God's beauty.
Jessica 18-Jul-2004 04:36
This is a money shot if ever I have seen one. You should copyright this and start selling the rights. This one puts "the angry bluebird" to shame. It explains why anyone still lives in Afghanistan, or anywhere around there. Also, goggle time is great. Thank you, for your art and your service to our country and to freedom around the globe. Keep shooting!
Guest 18-Jun-2004 17:38
Absolutly beautiful. Every image in your gallery evokes a emotion from me that could bring tears at moments. I fully support the military. Good Luck and great photographs.

In the Tour de France bike race they rate the difficulty of the climbs by categories, and a few of the most difficult are rated "beyond category". Well, this image is beyond beautiful. The war plane perfectly set against the incredible landscape is almost surreal. Breath-taking.

What a beautiful sight! Thank you and your brothers and sisters in arms for the sacrifices you make each and every day for the benefit of all Americans...you are all heroes. May God Bless America and may He hold each and every one of you in the palm of his hand until your mission is completed.

Beautiful shot, almost surreal, keep up the good work.
I should have kept my F707.

I took the same picture 35 years ago in Laos. North Vietnam had the wet monsoon and we were into the smoke season. Clouds in the vallies and peaks, well Peaking, through the clouds. And way off in the distance, the South China Sea. I was a FAC, flying my mighty twin Cessan around the valley. MACH 0.1 ! Thanks for the pictures, and thanks for going there! My son is a Marine, and expects to be in Iraq by Midsummer...

Rob - Gorgeous shot! My hubby (ex-A.F.) said "That's not a picture, that's a painting." What really has us jazzed is we have virtually the same camera (DSC-F717). If only we had your talent! Breathtaking.

Spectacular image!
Great work in capturing the beauty of an area that has been surrounded by the ugliness of repression and war. You had a viewpoint that few in history have ever shared - thank you for sharing that view.

A once in a lifetime shot! Words escape me.

You really need to put this on a poster, give it away at military retirement. Awesome!
