Yes they can conduct safe tournements. It takes several bouncers, good food, and a moderate police presence. I noted when the duty car marker showed up; her wand's chalk could quickly be knocked out and converted in to a 3 foot tazer. Smart. I primarily used a 70-200mm lense with a 1.4x magnifier as the players seemed more tense than normal - like Mount St Helens. Overall I rate this as a success. Very few weapons had to be removed, very few obsence hand gestures and lewd "four banger dances" were observed. The taunting was semi-friendly - like the Crips and the Bloods without automatic weapons.
Anyway the day started off with real Starbucks coffee and a home cooked buffet of home fried potatoes, ham and eggs and fresh fruit. The chef, who will be noted later on in the pictures, also acted as crowd control, artist for the leader board and head bouncer. Thanks Steve. The courts were in pristine condition and all three were playable, a dramatic change from months past and shows the fanacticsim of some of the players even after days of rain. Thanks to primarily to Jim A. and Carolyn for the hard work here. Finally thanks to everyone who showed up and participated in a great event. It couldn't have been done without you - well it could have, but then Jim would have gone home with the trophy...;) (I won't be there for a couple of weeks...)
