I remember standing in formation on a reviewing field like this one, facing attendees sitting in bleachers. After a miserably wet and cold eight weeks (Feb.-Apr.), we graduated on a beautiful sunny day like the one pictured here. The ceremony bored me---as did all the military pomp and ceremony---but I took comfort in the thought that the worst was behind me. Ahead lay 38 weeks of electronics schooling in New Jersey. The people in this crowd are hoping for the best for the boys in green. I wonder how many of those troops met their Maker in the jungles of Asia, and what percentage of parents thought that the war was necessary...
