Wilson's Snipe (Gallinago delicata)

Florida

Wilson's snipe in a posture displaying its red-tipped tail feathers,
a warning to potential predators. This bird was feeding when a grackle
flew near, eliciting the warning. This bird can attain speeds of 60 mph
and has an interesting life history. This species was named for
Alexander Wilson, the "father of American ornithology" before Audubon.

Fascinating behaviour; great shot. And a story in a name - I recognise it from the Wilson Journal of Ornithology.
