FIRE

These photos were taken one fine evening over a beer at my mate Pete's place.

He built a fireplace using the inner metal drum of a washing machine! Because of all the small holes that allow oxygen rich air to enter evenly from all around it produces a really nice flame.

As you will see below I did some experimenting with shutter speeds.

1/16,000 second shows a flame in ways we can't hope to see with our eyes and I think 1/20 second is roughly what we see with our eyes so I took some at that speed too.

Time and light are facinating subjects
capturing it is amazing. Great work.
Have you tried burning other materials for natural colors ?

wow..awesome pictures. I'm a webmaster for 2 fire departments, and can only hope to get pictures like these one day.

The camera used for all these photos was a Konica Minolta Dimage A1.
