Today is my birthday and I am 42 years old. I have been alive for almost half a century now.
Birthday's are sort of a time to reflect on the years past and think ahead to the even fewer ahead...It occurs to me I have done little of any real merit or worth thus far. I never wrote the great book I contemplated, nor created a memorable piece of art work. Instead my goals have shrunk to the much smaller scale of trying to make the people around me feel special.
Today's photo was taken by the Mississippi River, while walking the dogs. I felt it was special to get to see several egrets - a beautiful graceful bird. It seems like a fortuitous sign for the upcoming year.
