Evelyn Grace Blackert Anderson

In addition to being wife and mother for the better part of her life, Evelyn worked at a number of jobs over the years. Even back as a high school girl she helped with chores, housework, and cooking. She did some redecorating, (once an entire house at the grand rate of 25 cents per hour). She helped take care of the ill and did some teaching - (bringing the gift of reading to a retarded boy others had called hopeless). She helped build the house she still lives in, helping her husband Spud with the bricks and mortar while doing the bookwork for their business. After she was widowed, she had various jobs as auditor, cashier, and retail supervisor, and spent the last 17 years of her career working for the government helping low income families get benefits.
At over 80 years old, she’s still going strong
today, giving us all something to aspire to. As her grand-daughter says, "You go girl!"
