This house, just a few miles outside of Hoopole, Illinois, is where Evelyn was born, in 1920, upstairs in the Southwest Corner room. After Doc had delivered her, he asked if anyone had come up with a name yet. Well, at this time, Evelyn's oldest brother Roy and the hired man Earl Whither were dating a pair of sisters and started arguing back and forth as to whether the newborn should be called Grace or Evelyn, Evelyn or Grace, on and on...Until finally Doc exclaimed, "It's Evelyn Grace!!!" And that was that. And so, Evelyn came to be named after the hired man's special gal, while her mother didn't really even have a word to say in it.
