The Mara holds an amazing selection of birds. Habitats include rivers, marshes, riparian forest, scrub & extensive grassland plains. The Mara birdlist exceeds 450 species & includes a large number of raptors amongst many other spectacular species BUT (there always is one!) we travelled to the Mara to see mammals not birds. Despite this I did get a chance to photograph a number of bird species -mainly from a vehicle & usually in less than ideal light conditions. This gallery holds a selection of these images -most are just record shots but at least they hint at the amazing range of birds to be found in the Mara.
