Taiga Bean Geese

Slammanan Plateau, Central Scotland

About the size of a Grey-lag these Geese are quite easy to separate from other grey geese. Notice in the thumbnail that at a distance they clearly have dark heads (as does Pink-foot). They are separated from Pink-footed Geese by having a long tapering bill which is dark proximally & orange distally whereas Pink-feet have obvious short stubby bills (hence their latin specific: brachyrhynchus = short beak).
