In October 1966 it was just another evening at the C&O station in Charottesville, VA. C&O GP7 No. 5896 and E7 No. 1425 (ex-Pere Marquette) stare each other down at the east end of the platform. Momentarily the 1425 will continue on to Washington DC with it's load of passengers. The 5896 is still in service today. Owned by the Stone Mountain Railroad in Georgia, the GP7 even retains it's original C&O engine number from when it was built in 1953. Bill Stratton Photograph / Jeff Hawkins Collection.
