Now & Then - Alberta, VA: Looking north along the now abandoned CSX Norlina Subdivision (ex-SCL, nee-SAL) at Alberta located in Brunswick County. The top photograph was taken in May 1977 by the late Bill Griffin. Bill was standing along the right of way of the former Virginian Railway looking north as SCL No. 275 was coming south. In contrast is a photo that I shot in nearly the same location in April 2002. Due to overgrowth, it is not possible to replicate this view 14 years later.
