Loads East - Empties West. A westbound hopper train emerges from the single track portal of Alleghany Tunnel and into the morning light on the West Virginia side of the mountain. Over on Track 2 we see the tail end of a loaded coal train about to disappear into the darkness of the original 1870 tunnel that is 4,711' long and was built to accommodate double track. This scene was captured at Tuckahoe, WV on the morning of October 21, 2010.
