Construído ao longo de 1.500 anos, sua construção teve início por volta de de 2200 a.C. e foi terminada por volta de 360 a.C. , o Templo de Karnak foi dedicado ao deus AMON-RÁ e é uma das maiores realizações arquitetônicas da humanidade. Maior santuário religioso da antiguidade, Karnak é ligado por uma esplanada de mais de 3 km de extensão ao templo de Luxor, localizado mais ao sul, nas margens do Rio Nilo. O templo esteve submerso nas areias egípcias durante mais de 1000 anos. Em meados do século XVIII, os trabalhos de escavação começaram e a imensa tarefa de restauro e conservação continua até aos nossos dias. Karnak é um dos locais mais procurados pelos turistas que visitam o Egito e pode ser admirado à noite em um belíssimo espectáculo de luz e som que conta uma parte de sua história.

Largest religious sanctuary in ancient times, Karnak is connected by a terrace of more than 3 km extension to the temple of Luxor, located further south on the banks of the River Nile. The temple was submerged in the sands of Egypt for over 1000 years. In the mid-eighteenth century, the excavation work began and the immense task of restoration and conservation continues to this day. Karnak is one of the most visited by tourists visiting Egypt and can be admired at night in a beautiful light show and sound that tells a part of its history.
