As pirâmides, localizadas no planalto de Gizé, são as únicas das sete maravilhas do mundo antigo que sobreviveram praticamente intactas. Quéops (Khufu), a mais antiga e também a mais alta - 160 metros de altura, foi construída por volta de 2.500 a.c. com cerca de 2.300.000 blocos de calcário, pesando, em média, 2.75 toneladas, movidos pela força de 20.000 homens. Quéfren e Miquerinos são as outras duas e são menores do que Quéops mas não menos majestosas.
Em relação a Quéops, a Grande Piramide, uma curiosidade é que os quatro lados são praticamente do mesmo comprimento. Isso mostra como os antigos egípcios estavam avançados na matemática e na engenharia, numa época em que muitos povos do mundo ainda eram caçadores e andarilhos.
